I recently asked some college students if they had ever led someone to Christ, start to finish.\u00a0 Almost half a dozen of the fifty or so students in the room said that they had done this in their lives.\u00a0 While we know that God opens the heart, we also know that people cannot believe without a clear witness. \u00a0So, here is a condensed version of a presentation I made on this subject to some collegians last Friday.<\/p>\n
1.\u00a0 Capture The Day.<\/strong> It is important to remember that it is God and His Word that will change a life.\u00a0 Even the hardest heart cannot stand against Him.\u00a0 So dream big and expect God to use you.\u00a0 You may not get a second chance!<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0 Be Intentional.<\/strong> Since we encounter people through the power of the gospel we need to plan our relational encounters.\u00a0 Plan to share Christ with the people you meet.\u00a0 Anticipate that God will open hearts.<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0 Train and Model It.<\/strong> Most Christians are not trained in how to share their faith so find someone who does it well and learn from them.\u00a0 Start by asking your pastor or spiritual mentor to assist you.\u00a0 While you are at it, memorize 15-20 key Scripture verses, you will need them.\u00a0 Can you imagine a soldier being sent into a conflict without thorough training?\u00a0 No way.\u00a0 Once you learn how to present the gospel, find ways to practice it and then teach someone what you have learned and practice.\u00a0 People need great models in this area.<\/p>\n 5.\u00a0 Consider Your Gifting. <\/strong> Not everyone is an outgoing evangelist but everyone can do something based upon their specific abilities.\u00a0 Maybe you can bake?\u00a0 Then bake your neighbor or friend a pie or some brownies.\u00a0 If you can change oil in a car, then change the auto oil for a single mom.\u00a0 Various acts of kindness can open a window to the gospel.\u00a0 But remember, everyone is responsible to tell others about Christ.<\/p>\n 6.\u00a0 Materials And Methods. <\/strong>Here are a few things to use and some ways to use them.<\/p>\n a.\u00a0 Share your story<\/em>.\u00a0 Ask friends and relatives what is important to them and then share why Christ is important to you.\u00a0 People like to talk about important things and they like to hear great stories.\u00a0 Use www.mostimportantthing.org to disclose your story and direct people to it.\u00a0 Ask them to read your story online and then to send you their insight from your story.<\/p>\n b.\u00a0 Use tracts<\/em>…yes they are old fashion but they open discussion and give you an avenue to stay connected.<\/p>\n c.\u00a0 The Web<\/em> makes things easy and efficient.\u00a0 Scarf ideas from www.studentz.com or www.namb.net\/college.\u00a0 Refer people to www.WHYcard.net .\u00a0 Make a wordpress blog.\u00a0 A blog is easy and free.\u00a0 You can quickly learn how to make a blog through instruction on YouTube. \u00a0Of course, talk about Christ on F’book or Twitter.<\/p>\n d.\u00a0 Host a party<\/em>!\u00a0 Birthday, seasonal, or sports parties\/tailgates are always a great invite.\u00a0 When people see how you live they can then understand what you believe.<\/p>\n e.\u00a0 Go to www.studentz.com\/college<\/em> and view the ‘intentional evangelism’ DVD<\/strong>.\u00a0 It talks about intentionality, clarity, and how to have a spiritual discussion with your friends.<\/p>\n 7.\u00a0 Discover Venues.<\/strong><\/p>\n a.\u00a0 Go on a mission tri<\/em>p and share your story with others.\u00a0 Then make plans to return and do it locally.<\/p>\n b.\u00a0 Take a trip to Panama City Beach<\/em> and work with the LifeWay BeachReach Spring break outreach<\/em>.\u00a0 It is a lot of fun and you WILL get to share your faith.<\/p>\n c.\u00a0 How about inviting international students<\/em> over for dinner.\u00a0 They always accept.\u00a0 Call your local college international student office and they will assist you.\u00a0 Many leaders say that 7 out of every 10 students never go to an American home while they are in the U.S.<\/p>\n d.\u00a0 Throw a tailgate party or block part<\/em>y.\u00a0 Great events like this show that you care about others in your world.\u00a0 They give you credibility and validation as a friendly person.<\/p>\n e.\u00a0 Got a ping-pong tabl<\/em>e?\u00a0 Invite neighborhood kids over to use it.\u00a0 When you want to invite them to your church VBS program, they may go.<\/p>\n f.\u00a0 Find a project to work on<\/em> in your town.\u00a0 Schools need painting, streets need cleaning, libraries need volunteers, etc.\u00a0 You get the idea.\u00a0 Go to places where people work or live.<\/p>\n 8.\u00a0 Celebrate. <\/strong> As you are able to share your faith and\/or people receive Christ, don’t forget to rejoice.\u00a0 Throw a party!\u00a0 Have a cake and ice cream.\u00a0 Videotape the story for others to see.\u00a0 Share it on a blog.\u00a0 This is important!<\/p>\n Some web sites:<\/p>\n www.WHYcard.net<\/a><\/p>\n www.thekristo.com<\/a><\/p>\n www.studentz.com\/college<\/a><\/p>\n www.namb.net\/college<\/a><\/p>\n www.mostimportantthing.org<\/a><\/p>\n
