{"id":236,"date":"2010-06-18T02:23:37","date_gmt":"2010-06-18T02:23:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marklydecker.com\/?p=236"},"modified":"2011-08-14T21:44:22","modified_gmt":"2011-08-15T01:44:22","slug":"usa-today-college-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marklydecker.com\/?p=236","title":{"rendered":"USA TODAY &#038; College Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several of this weeks USA Today\u00a0papers\u00a0had a couple of articles about college students.\u00a0 They are\u00a0summarized here:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0Freshman\u00a0enrollment\u00a0is up.\u00a0 6% increase in 2008.\u00a0 This\u00a0indicates that\u00a0enrollment is not being driven by\u00a0unemployed people.\u00a0\u00a0 Also, 75 percent of this increase came from minorities.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 Some schools are granting admission to students who\u00a0 do not have the proper SAT scores.\u00a0 The school needs the bucks.\u00a0 I believe there are some students who may not qualify per SAT but they may\u00a0earn the grades with hard work, actually attending and listening in class, doing their homework, etc.\u00a0 It will show up at graduation ceremonies.<\/p>\n<p>3.
